The Yellow-legged Flyrobin is recorded in New Guinea’s mid-montane rainforest and on Australia’s Cape York Peninsula. The Birds Queensland account uses the name Kempiella griseoceps, while the pool lists Microeca griseoceps.
A small flyrobin weighing about 11 g, it has a dark upper bill, yellow lower bill and yellow legs.
In New Guinea it occurs in mid-montane rainforest. The Cape York subspecies feeds and nests in the middle and upper canopy of rainforest and nearby open forest. A 1977 Lockhart River nest was a cup made from roots, bark and lichen bound with spider web.
