This is the wild canary of the Azores, Madeira, and the Canary Islands. The profile covers the island species, not domestic canary breeds.
In the studied wild population from Madeira, adult males had yellow on the face, forehead, throat, and breast, with ashy-black wings. Females were duller than males.
At the study site in the Desertas Islands, the birds mainly ate grass seeds. During the observed breeding season, females built nests and both sexes fed the nestlings.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
