The Bat Falcon hunts in forests and at forest edges in Central and South America. Despite its name, it eats bats but mainly preys on small birds and large insects.
Adults have a black head and upperparts, a white to buff throat and upper chest, and a black tail with fine white or gray bars.
It hunts from dusk to dawn and mainly eats small birds and large insects. It also takes bats, but they do not make up most of its diet; the main prey varies by season.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
