The Indomalayan Leopoldamys has a dark back, pale belly, and long tail. It is mainly ground-dwelling but can climb, and eats fruit, vegetation, and insects.
Its short, glossy fur is usually dark brown on the back and front of the tail, golden brown on the flanks, and yellowish white to dull white underneath. The rear half of the tail is typically pale.
It spends much of its time on the forest floor but is adapted for climbing. It nests in tree holes or burrows and feeds on fruits, vegetation, and insects.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
