Tibetan Spaniel

Temperament
Playful, Bright, Self-confident
[3]Origin and classification
The FCI lists Tibet (China) as its place of origin and a companion dog as its use. Although the English name includes “Spaniel,” the FCI places it among Tibetan breeds in Group 9 rather than the gundog spaniels.
[1]Build
This is a small, active and alert dog with a body slightly longer than its height. Longer hair forms a “shawl” at the neck, and the richly plumed tail curls over the back in motion.
[1]Coat and colour
The silky topcoat lies fairly flat over a fine, dense undercoat. Under the FCI standard published in 2026, colours and colour mixtures are permitted except merle.
