[3]Background and human relationship
A Hungarian herding dog used to gather livestock, with additional hunting and guarding roles. It developed from eighteenth- to nineteenth-century shepherd-dog crosses and is distinct from the Hungarian Puli and Pumi.
[1]Build and coat
A medium dog with a wedge head and erect ears. Short smooth hair on head and legs contrasts with wavy or slightly curly body coat, while the topline slopes towards the rear.
[1]Colour and comparisons
Listed colours include fawn, black, blue merle, ash, brown and white. Blue merle has darker markings on greyish ground, unlike self-coloured ash. JKC permits limited small white areas on chest and toes.
