Merle Markings

In the Great Dane standard, merle has a pale-to-dark grey base with irregular black patches. White on the chest and toes is allowed, and a mantle pattern is also described: a solid merle blanket over the body, with a white muzzle, chest, parts of the legs and tail tip. The blanket itself is merle.
