[1]Background
Developed from crosses involving domestic cats and the Asian leopard cat, the Bengal is a domestic breed, distinct from the wild species.
[1]Appearance
The muscular body may carry spots, rosettes or marbling. Rosettes have contrasting inner and outer colour rather than being simple solid spots.
[1]Coat and comparisons
A broad nose, prominent whisker pads and small-to-medium ears complement the pattern. A spotted coat alone does not identify a Bengal.
[1]Colours and patterns in the ACFA standard
In the ACFA standard: Accepted patterns are spotted or marbled. Listed color groups are brown tabby, silver tabby, seal lynx-point tabby, seal silver lynx-point tabby, seal sepia (including silver) and seal mink (including silver).
