[4]An Arctic dog linked with Inuit life
The FCI standard describes a long relationship with the Thule culture of Inuit in Arctic Canada, dating it to 1,100–2,000 years. It also says the breed's earlier origins are lost in Inuit prehistory.
[1]A sled, hunting and pack dog
The FCI standard records that a dog could pull 45–80 kg and travel 15–70 miles (about 24–113 km) in a day. It also describes hunting work that included locating seal breathing holes and summer packing of loads up to 15 kg.
[1]A dense double coat and varied patterns
The UKC standard describes a powerfully built, medium-sized Spitz with a thick neck and chest and a dense double coat in winter. Males tend to grow a mane over the neck and shoulders, while females are usually shorter-coated. Accepted patterns include solid white, white with red, buff, cinnamon, grey or black markings, and several parti-color combinations.
