[4]Background and role
A compact pointing bird dog from Brittany, France, with an early twentieth-century standard.
[1]Appearance
A short compact substantial but not heavy body differs in proportions from the long-legged Pointer.
[1]Coat and comparisons
White combines with orange, black or liver in patched, roan or tricolour coats; JKC excludes solids.

AKC allows orange-and-white and liver-and-white, but disqualifies black. This differs from the black-and-white combination in JKC; colour criteria remain registry-specific.
