[3]Background and human relationship
A Hungarian herder developed in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries from Puli and imported erect-eared terrier-type dogs. Recognized separately in the early twentieth century, it is distinct from both Puli and Mudi.
[1]Build and coat
A medium square-built dog with an elongated muzzle. The upper third of the upright ear bends forward, while medium-length hair waves and curls. Ear tips and curl structure help comparison with other Hungarian herders.
[1]Colour and comparisons
Colours include grey, black, fawn and white; JKC notes that grey dogs are often born black and lighten with age. Limited chest and toe white is allowed. Age-related changes differ from markings distributed across the body.
