[3]A Norwegian dog developed for seabird hunting
It was used to hunt seabirds on the Norwegian coast. The FCI standard notes descriptions more than 400 years old of dogs used to hunt puffins. The name combines the Norwegian words lunde (puffin) and hund (dog).
[1]A flexible body for steep rocky terrain
Each foot has at least six toes, and the neck can bend to touch the back. Its closable ears and highly flexible forelimbs are adaptations described for climbing steep rocks and entering narrow nesting burrows.
[1]A small Spitz-type dog
It is a small, rectangular and lightly built Spitz. The coat has a dense, rough topcoat and soft undercoat. The standard lists red-to-fawn coats with black-tipped hairs and white with dark patches, and says the coat is always combined with white.
