Bourbonnais Pointing Dog

Temperament
Affectionate, Gentle, Adaptable
[3]Early records and recovery
The FCI standard points to a 1598 written record of this French pointing dog, described as a hunter’s companion. It also says strict selection in the 1930s for a faded-lilac coat and naturally short tail endangered the breed.
[1]Build for pointing
A medium-sized, short-haired Braque, it is compact and muscular. The FCI standard describes a pointer that searches with its head held high and adapts to varied terrain and game.
[1]Head shape and coat
The standard calls the pear-shaped head an essential feature. The white coat is finely ticked brown or fawn and may appear roaned overall.
