Silver Gray & Black

In the Norwegian Elkhound, a gray body is combined with clear light-silver areas and black points. The AKC standard links gray shade to the length of black hair tips and the quantity of guard hairs. The undercoat, legs, underside, buttocks and underside of the tail are light silver; the saddle is darker and the chest and mane lighter. The muzzle, ears and tail tip are black; an overall colour other than the described gray is disqualifying.
