Black Saddle

A black saddle is a black marking shaped like a saddle over the back, following the AKC glossary’s pattern term. The AKC Plott standard accepts brindle—a lighter background streaked or striped with dark hair—with a black saddle. Solid black and black with brindle trim are separately accepted examples; the presence of both black and brindle does not by itself establish the same pattern layout.
