The pool's older generic combination Pentholaea albifrons is updated here to Oenanthe albifrons. The appearance account is for the nominate race, while Senegal is within the range of a different form, frontalis.
In the nominate race, the adult male is slightly glossy black with a white forehead and silvery undersides to the flight feathers. The female is somewhat browner and lacks the white forehead.
Species accounts list open woodland, savanna, farmland and bare semi-arid areas as habitats. It is an invertivore that also forages on the ground.
