The mongoose lemur is known for its grey fur and beard. Adult males and females have different beard colors.
Adult males have reddish-orange fur under the chin, while females have white fur there. Male infants are born with white beards that turn reddish-brown as they grow.
In the wild, fruit is its main food. It eats flowers and nectar in the wet season, and also turns to mature and young leaves in the dry season.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
