The red-bellied lemur is a diurnal lemur whose facial and belly markings differ between males and females. It eats fruit, flowers, and leaves in eastern Madagascar’s rainforests.
Males have red-brown fur and prominent white teardrop-shaped patches below the eyes. Females have red-brown backs and sides, pale undersides, and little or no white around the eyes.
It is active during the day and mainly eats fruit, flowers, and leaves. Small family groups, usually an adult pair and offspring, travel and feed together.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
