This small dove lives in open areas and towns in South America and feeds on seeds on the ground. Male and female plumage looks similar to human observers.
To humans, the sexes look similar, but reflectance measurements found males tended to be brighter overall and to reflect more ultraviolet light on the forehead, throat, and breast.
It is active by day and forages for seeds on the ground. It uses savanna, forest edges, open country, and towns.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
