The Wetar Figbird is endemic to Wetar Island, where males have a white belly and females have streaked brown underparts.
The male has pink to orange-red bare skin around the eye, a black head, neck, and upper mantle, and a white underside. The female has bluish-gray to dark green eye skin, brown upperparts, and buff-white underparts heavily streaked with brown.
During the 2008–2009 Wetar surveys, calls were heard at most forest sites, particularly at forest edges and in dry forest. The birds were most easily seen when feeding in fig trees. At Lake Tihu, one bird mimicked both Wallacean Drongo and Red-cheeked Parrot.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
