The Washington ground squirrel lives in grasslands from eastern Washington to north-central Oregon. It has short legs and rounded ears, and spends the long winter underground.
Its legs and tail are short, and its ears are rounded. It has a white ring around each eye and pale spots on its back.
It lives in underground burrows and eats grasses, forbs, and seeds. It is active above ground for about four to five months of the year, then hibernates.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
