The Texas antelope squirrel has white side stripes and black bands on its tail. It is active by day in rocky, arid country.
A white stripe runs from each shoulder to the base of the tail, which has three black bands on top. The underside is white in summer and gray in winter.
It is diurnal and uses dens in rocky areas. It eats mostly fruits and seeds as well as insects, carrying food in its cheek pouches to store in dens or under rocks.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
