This greenbul is recorded in northeastern and eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo and western Uganda. Cornell’s species page lists 1996 as the last documented record; that does not establish extinction.
Its black crown varies in prominence; the upperparts are described as dark olive-brown and the underparts as yellowish olive-green.
The account places it in primary forest at 600–1,580 m and describes it in small groups or mixed-species flocks.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
