This small antbird lives in Amazonian forest understory. Near Peru’s Manu National Park, a male was recorded attending a nest hung low in dense vegetation.
The male is entirely black, while the female has a rusty-brown breast.
In 2011, a hanging nest was found about 1 m above ground in dense understory in the buffer zone of Manu National Park. It held one white egg and was attended by a male.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
