The Charming Hummingbird occurs on Costa Rica's southern Pacific side. It uses forest edges, riverside woodland and other open habitats such as coffee farms, and is reported to be solitary.
Adult males have a shining blue-green crown, bronze-green upperparts, and violet-blue on the lower throat and breast. Females have a duller crown and pale grey throat and breast with green and blue spots.
It prefers open groves, coffee plantations, secondary growth and gardens with scattered trees. In wooded areas it occurs along edges, streams and rivers, and in clearings; the account describes it as solitary.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
