The Mottle-breasted Honeyeater is recorded in New Guinea foothill forest and has conspicuous mottling below. It forages among trees for fruit and insects rather than visiting flowering trees.
It has an olive back and strong mottling on the underside. A large yellow ear spot and thin yellow eye ring are also distinctive.
It usually forages alone for insects and fruit among tree foliage, rather than visiting flowering trees, and gives a mournful piping call.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
