The Red-capped Manakin is a small bird of the understory in humid forests from Central America to northwestern South America. Males have red heads, females are green, and both may be found around fruiting trees.
The male is distinguished by a vivid red head, while the female is mostly greenish. Because their plumage differs greatly, the male’s red head is not a feature of every individual.
It is usually alone or in pairs in the forest understory and visits fruiting trees to feed. It forages among branches.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
