The Black-hooded Coucal is a cuckoo relative recorded on Mindoro in the Philippines. Records describe it moving through dense lowland-forest thickets along branches.
It has a blackish hood, a bronze-green body, and a long, stout bill that curves downward.
In the few field records, it moved along branches through dense tangles of vines, rattan, and bamboo and was reluctant to fly.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
