The Biak Coucal is a cuckoo found on Biak and Supiori, northwest of New Guinea. It is usually inconspicuous unless it calls.
It is about 46 cm long, with a black body, a purple sheen on the upperparts, and yellow eyes.
A 1982 field account recorded birds perched in vine-covered trees in forest below 60 m. Their low, resonant calls repeat while rising and falling in pitch.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
