This small flycatcher occurs in Central American forest. At Guatemala's Laguna del Tigre National Park, it appears regularly in annual bird counts.
It is about 10 cm long, with a short, thick, downcurved bill, gray head, olive back, and pale yellow belly.
It stays alone or in pairs in dense understory and sallies from branches to catch insects and other arthropods. Christmas counts at Laguna del Tigre recorded it every year from 2010 through 2019.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
