This large leaf-nosed bat has fur ranging from pale cream through brown and orange to bright red. A Sri Lankan study included it among insect-eating bats recorded from natural cave populations.
Its average forearm length is reported as 86.3 mm. Fur ranges from pale cream to fulvous brown, orange, and bright red, tending to be darker on the forehead, shoulders, and rump and paler on the belly.
It is insectivorous. Populations in the natural caves of Wavulgalge and Wavulpena, Sri Lanka, were included in a study estimating how much prey the cave bat populations consumed each night.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
