This pitta is known from the Minahasa region of northern Sulawesi. Published information on its natural history remains very limited.
It has a green body, black head, blue shoulder patch, and red vent.
Detailed behaviour is poorly documented. It is described as mostly lowland and may depend on swamp forest, while the source emphasizes that data are scarce.
