The Eungella Honeyeater is restricted to a small area of rainforest around the Clarke Range. A five-site study in 2019-2020 recorded it feeding on many kinds of flowers and fruits.
Its bill is black from base to tip. The Australian Museum identifies this as a feature distinguishing it from the Bridled Honeyeater, whose bill has a yellow base and black front half.
A 2019-2020 study recorded the honeyeater feeding on flowers and fruits of 30 native tree species and seven cultivated or non-native species. The researchers also observed movement to preferred feeding plants at different times of year.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
