The La Selle Thrush lives in highland forest on Hispaniola. Its two subspecies occupy separate areas of the island; adults of the nominate subspecies have a black head and back and reddish-brown underparts.
Adult nominate T. s. swalesi has a black head and back, a white streak on the throat, and reddish-brown flanks. The account says the sexes look alike.
It searches on the ground and low branches for earthworms and arthropods, and may forage along open trail edges at dawn.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
