A 2025 taxonomic study recognized this as a species distinct from part of the Long-winged Antwren group, based on plumage and voice differences.
In the former subspecies account, females had a pale cinnamon face and underparts with brownish-olive upperparts.
Legacy records for the former species group describe pairs or small groups in the understory of humid terra firme forest, searching foliage for insects.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
