It occurs east of the Andes in South America. Its black crown, white eyebrow, and yellow throat and belly are distinctive; it uses the canopy and edges of humid forest.
The crown is black and the underparts, including the throat, are yellow. A white eyebrow extends around the back of the neck; the yellow crown patch is usually concealed.
It searches mainly for insects in the canopy or along edges of humid and wet forest and tall secondary growth. It also occasionally eats fruit and forages alone, in pairs, or in mixed-species flocks.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
