A falcon of open, dry country in South Asia. It catches small birds and other prey in flight and sometimes hunts cooperatively with its mate.
The head has rufous and dark black markings, with long dark moustache lines across the white cheeks. The white underparts are spotted black rather than barred.
Pairs often stay together through the year and may divide roles when hunting cooperatively. They also scavenge small bird carcasses.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
