The Indian brown mongoose is a dark-brown mongoose found in the Western Ghats and parts of Sri Lanka.
Its coat is uniformly dark brown, soft, and dense; the thick, bushy tail often looks blackish.
At one reserve in southern India, observations found activity concentrated around dawn and evening, and recorded a mongoose feeding on a dead Nilgiri langur.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
