The Rock Sparrow is a sparrow found mainly around the Mediterranean. It may gather near mountain villages and grasslands and nests in cavities in rocks or buildings.
A conspicuous yellow patch on the chest helps identify it. The regional account notes that this mark can distinguish it from female Italian or Eurasian Tree Sparrows.
It is typically gregarious and breeds at the edges of mountain villages. It uses deep holes near ruined buildings, as well as tree cavities, spaces among rocks, and nest boxes used for research.
It feeds on seeds and insects.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
