The Puno Antpitta is recorded in the highlands of Peru’s Puno Department and at a few sites in western La Paz, Bolivia. It searches for insects close to the ground in dense vegetation.
The adult has dark reddish yellow-brown upperparts and paler underparts, with a pale buff-brown belly. Pale feather edges and fine streaks mark the belly and lower breast, and the eye-ring is pale.
A regional species account places it on the ground near dense undergrowth, cloud-forest edges, treeline, and rivers, searching for insects. Breeding behavior is not described there.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
