The eastern Patagonian laucha is a small rodent with a tail slightly longer than its head and body. It lives in sandy and scrubby places and feeds mainly on seeds at night.
Its back is brownish, sometimes separated from the white underside by a buffy line along the sides. The upper feet are white, and a broad dark stripe runs along the top of the slightly longer-than-body tail.
It is nocturnal and terrestrial but can climb well. It mainly eats seeds, followed by leaves and arthropods, and seed hoarding has been reported. Records include sandy shrubland and open scrub.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
