This mole-vole occurs in Iran, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, and marginally in western Pakistan. It digs underground tunnels and feeds on plants.
Its fur is short, soft, and velvety, light yellowish brown to buffy gray on the back and light gray on the sides and belly. The dark patch behind the nose and across the forehead is lighter in winter and darker in summer.
It digs tunnels to reach plants. Food varies by region: fleshy tubers are important in Balochistan, while grass rhizomes are important in Turkmenistan.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
