The Cinereous Warbling Finch is a small bird of Brazil's central Cerrado. Its distribution is sparse and local, and field knowledge remains limited according to the species account.
It is about 13 cm long. The head, back, wings and upper tail are pale slate grey, with light grey flanks and a white throat and underside. Females are duller than males, and juveniles have brownish or yellowish throats and necks.
It often catches insects among shrubs and also eats plant material. A study using the former name Poospiza cinerea at two Minas Gerais sites found groups of two to four birds staying close together and defending territories with song and display.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
