The lesser iron-gray dwarf lemur is known only from its type locality at Ambositra on Madagascar's central high plateau. Further study is needed to clarify its taxonomic status.
It has a dorsal stripe, relatively narrow eye-rings, a gray muzzle, dark sparsely haired ears, and an apparently white tail tip.
Its behavior and diet in the wild are poorly documented. A 2009 study said there was not enough evidence to assess its status, and a 2014 revision called for further field investigation.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
