This mouse lives in forests of eastern Australia. Its rounded nose and dark eye rings are distinctive, and it feeds at night on vegetation, seeds, and invertebrates.
It has a rounded nose, prominent eyes ringed with dark fur, and long, soft gray-brown fur above that fades to off-white or gray below. The tail is dark above and cream to white underneath.
It is nocturnal and eats foliage and stems, seeds, flowers, arthropods, and some fungi. By day it shelters in hollow logs, tree cavities, rock piles, or underground.
