This weaver lives around highland forest edges, and males and females differ in the black pattern on the crown.
The adult male has an orange-chestnut crown, black nape, and pale eyes. The female is similar but has a black crown.
It uses montane forest edges and adjoining scrub, forages for seeds in the lower to middle levels, and weaves a nest from grasses and other plant material.
It is 15 cm long.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
