A lemming recorded on Unalaska Island in the Aleutians. The 2017 treatment notes that it does not turn white in winter and that its status as a species or subspecies remains unsettled.
The treatment describes it as larger and paler than other Dicrostonyx. It does not develop a white winter coat.
It is thought to dig burrows in sandy or rocky coastal soils for shelter and escape from predators. The treatment labels diet and year-round activity as probable rather than confirmed.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
