This forest bird occurs around the Thyolo Highlands of southern Malawi. It has rusty upperparts and searches among leaf litter for small arthropods.
The upperparts are warm rusty brown, the underparts white, and the face and neck have a gray wash. The outer tail feathers have white tips.
It hops over leaf litter and often takes small arthropods at ant swarms. Its habitat is submontane evergreen forest.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
