This swallow lives in Africa south of the equator and catches insects in flight. Some birds that breed in South Africa are thought to move north after breeding.
Adults have a white throat, blue-black head and back, and chestnut patches on the forehead and rump.
It uses open grassland and scrub, often near rivers or dams, and catches insects while flying.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
