This small shrew is known from Ethiopia's Kafa zone. Its original description reports specimens from Medabo village; the MDD uses this English name.
The dorsal coat is blackish brown with gray hair bases. The underside is also dark, and the tail is blackish brown above and brownish gray below.
Specimens were collected at Medabo village in Ethiopia, along a dried periodic wetland and shrubby edge. This is the only locality currently known and does not establish the species' full habitat preference.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
